Sildenafil citrate may be linked to vision loss

Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra have varying side effects, though they are rare and generally mild. However, a recent study found that sildenafil citrate (the active ingredient in the drugs Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra) has been linked to loss of eyesight in some users. Generally the loss of eyesight occurs in one eye, and is a condition called non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION). Although numerous men suffering from NAION have taken sildenafil citrate for sexual dysfunction or erectile dysfunction, it has not been confirmed that there is a cause-and-effect relationship between taking the drug and the condition.
